Request Etudes Course Sites

Request for Live Course Sites

Faculty who plan to teach any course (fully online, hybrid, or enhanced) using Etudes for the Fall quarter must submit an online form for EACH live course site requested.  Call Helen Kikoshima at 650-949-7446 if you want assistance looking up course call numbers.  Faculty who plan to teach any course using Etudes for the Fall Quarter must have completed Etudes training (either ETU 101A, 101B, 101C, and 101D at the Foothill College campus or online from Etudes, Inc.).  Faculty will be invited to submit requests for Winter quarter Live course sites in early November.

Deadlines for Fall Quarter Course Sites

The deadline to submit request forms for Fall quarter Live course sites was Thursday, July 10th at noon for set up by Friday, July 25th.  The Request Form for the Fall quarter is available now at http://foothill.fall.sgizmo.com.  You can still request a Live course site for Fall after July 10th but the course site you request may not get set up until the mid-September.

The section number and call number for your course is available from the online Foothill College Fall 2008 schedule now from your Faculty Portal.

If you want to start working on your Fall Quarter course site before your Live course site can be set up, then you should request a Development site for that course.  Then, once your Fall quarter Live course site is set up, you can use Import from Site to copy content from your Development site to your Live site.  Requests for Development sites can be submitted using the Development Site Request Form

Process

1)  At least five weeks before the start of the next quarter, faculty must submit the Etudes Live Coures Site Request Form to the Foothill Global Access.  This is to lets staff know who wants to use Etudes to teach a particular course.  Information needed for the Request Form includes:

  • Course section numbers or call numbers, as listed in the schedule
  • Whether the instructor wants separate sites or all sections in one site, if more than one section of the same course taught by the same instructor.
  • Etudes User ID of the course instructor(s)

2) Foothill Global Access will flag the courses in the Student Information System (SIS), create a file of Etudes classes, and then send the file to the Etudes staff for processing.  Etudes course site cannot be set up individually and on-demand.

3) The Etudes staff then sets up the "live" course sites for use during that term and notifies the faculty member. Live course sites are set up about a month before the next quarter starts.
