More Test Center Improvements!

Quick, Direct Migration of Assignments Into Tasks, Tests & Surveys (formerly known as Test Center)

What's NEW! a comparison chart of the features in TTS

I'm ready to switch. How do I do that?

STEP I: IMPORT FROM ASSIGNMENTS INTO TASKS, TESTS & SURVEYS

  • Go to your Summer 2008 or Fall 2008 site.
  • Click on Tasks, Tests & Surveys >> Click on Question Pools >> Import
  • Select the 3rd, new option "Import from Assignments."
  • Choose the site that you want to import Assignments from. (It CAN be the same site, if you had imported items into the Assignments tool already and want to move them to Test Center!)
  • Click on the "Select All" checkbox to import all assignments.
  • Click on OK.

STEP II: SET YOUR DATES AND PUBLISH YOUR ASSIGNMENTS

(NOTE: Please remember to make any revisions PRIOR to publishing!)

STEP II: DISABLE THE ASSIGNMENTS TOOL

Go to Site Info >> Edit Tools and disable Assignments.

  • New Test Center Upgrades Are Here! (many faculty requested items)

    Question Creation

    • New Survey Questions with identifying icon  are not worth points, not added to Gradebook EVEN when combined with test questions or added at end of an assessment

      • Any type of question can be assigned the “Survey” designation, not just scaled response

    • Upload files through editor in TC—from your desktop or embed images uploaded to Test Center

      •  Upload other files/docs with hyperlink icon, View uploaded files to select and link

    • Full-screen button in lower left corner of editor   available for students and instructors

      • Closing the full screen returns to the smaller view and saves the work

    • Special draw logic for tests and surveys.

      • If you are creating a "Test" (type) and you are setting it to select 20 questions random from a pool, if that pool also includes survey questions, Test Center ONLY selects from assessment questions. Likewise, if you are creating a "Survey" (type) and you are selecting random questions from a pool that also includes assessment questions, Test Center picks only survey questions.

Note: You can include survey questions in a test using "Add Manual Part". Survey questions will not be worth any points, even if the pool is set to have a point value. And, you can include assessment questions in a survey, but students will not get any points there.

    • All user-entered html anchor tags open in a new window

    • Incomplete questions (missing answers for example) will not be included in available questions under Assessments.

    • Instructors can now test drive a test that is closed or past due

    • Editor's default font size from 8 pt to 10pt.

    • Matching question scoring—no penalty for incorrect pairs, only points for ones right

    • Larger 'comments' box in grade-by-question view

    • 'Max' Wording removed: test in progress shows test, part and question points. Test completed, shows “Total Grade: 2 (of possible 5 points)” for overall test, and “Score: 2 (of possible 2 points)” for parts and questions.

    • Final scores totals (and validity) will update as the user types.

    Formatting

    • Added strike-through, highlighting, font color picker, superscript, subscript, out-dent, indent

    • Fill-in-the-blank automated help takes out any preceding or trailing spaces and alerts you of format problems

    • 'Send to gradebook' is default in settings.
    • Where no date has been chosen, words describe state of assessment: no open date=”Open,” no due date=”Never,” no accept until date=”Due,” no time limit=infinite symbol, no tries limit=”Unlimited.”

    • Editor's default font size from 8 pt to 10pt.

    • Final confirmation message appears to students in Review, as well as during delivery.

    Special Access

    • New column grade submissions sets special access

    • Special access identifying icons: one to set special access initially, and one to view special access previously set

    • Multiple special access for same user means special access definitions are the most recently defined, no leftover settings from previous times—special settings that have no user identified are removed

    Assignments in Test Center—June Upgrade

June upgrade to Test Center will include automated transfer of your assignments into Test Center. Not only will you have the same interface for grading and feedback for all submitted work, but your students will also appreciate the single tool solution.
